Why is Leslie Coming to Tuilta, especially during the middle of winter? Just curious. I am enjoying the writing. Thanks.

Hi nicky,

Leslie is coming to Tulita for the Tulita Unity Accord (click on the Tulita link in the blog story and you'll find the website). He's not mentioned on the itinerary but the schedule is not finalized yet.

Hi Nicole, thanks for the info. One of Brodie's posts got me to wondering, are there any roads leading from Edmonton to the Beaufort Sea? I know there is one going all the way to Yellowknife. Anyways, thanks for the info and have great day.

Hi nicky,
There's an all season road from Edmonton to Yellowknife and Wrigley. Then there's a winter road only from Wrigley to Inuvik and the Beaufort Sea. There's been many talks of expanding the winter road to an all season road maybe if the Mackenzie Gas project goes ahead but who knows. Here's a link to the Gov of NWT roads website for maps: http://www.dot.gov.nt.ca/_live/pages/wpPages/roadConditions.aspx
Hope this was helpful!

Hi Nicole, The information was quite helpful thanks. May I ask, how on Earth did you two end up in the Northwest Territories, I am just curious, since New Floundland is quite a bit away. Tell Brodie thanks for the interesting stories.

Hi Nicky,

Haha, the best told story of how we got to Tulita from Nfld (well NS at the time) would be located in Brodie's archives in April 2006.
As a summary, I was offered a job in Tulita with a renewable resources board (finished my contract with the Nfld gov) and we thought going north would be fun...and it is full of adventures as you have read.
Thanks for the great feedback, I will let Brodie know you like it. May I ask where you are reading from (country/province/state)? just curiousity on my part, lol.

Wow, sorry about asking that, I thought I had read all the archives. Anyways, thanks for the summary Nichole. To answer your question, I am a financial advisor in South Dakota which is in the U.S. We are one state below Manitoba and Saskaketchwan. To get to Winnipeg from where I live you have to drive roughly 7 hours. On a side note. Before I started reading your column(actually Brodie's) I had tentatively been planning a trip to the maritimes this summer more in particular Nova Scotia and New Floundland. Any tips for me or things I should see. Anyways this comment is already super long.

P.S. tell Brodie to let us faithful readers know if Lesile actually shows. Thanks again

Nicky, there's tons of places to visit in Newfoundland and NS but here's a few of my favorites. In Nfld, visit Gros Morne on west coast and Trinity on the east coast. In Nova scotia, visit Baddeck in Cape Breton and Wolfville (may catch blossom festival depending on when you go). The capital cities (St. John's and Halifax) are full of history too. You can also visit both government tourism webpages for more info.
I really think Leslie's coming as he said so on a radio interview yesterday on the local radio.
Cheers!
Nicole

Hi Nicole, I know Brodie is probably real busy at that store, but it would sure be cool to have new blog updating us loyal readers on the Tulita unity. Whether Lesile showed up or not, etc. Also much thanks for your recommendations for places to visit in NL and NS. I hope all is well.

Hi Nicky,
I've let Brodie know how much you appreciate reading his stories. Good news is that Leslie Neilson was in town from Thurs-Sat. He spoke with the youth of Tulita and dropped the puck at a hockey game in his honor. He also signed autographs and had pictures taken. Unfortunately, Brodie was so busy at the store that he didn't get to see him personally.
Also, Brodie does have a story (a really good one) about the big eighteen wheeler trucks that he unloads during the winter twice a week at the store. It also includes more Leslie info. But it's pretty busy this week at the store with head bosses in town for inspection of the store and then barge orders to be done. He should get it posted online the weekend though.
Well, this is a long post so I'd better go.
